Subframe connectors…..

August 30, 2010 Leave a comment

Well, I should have installed these prior to laying the epoxy on, but no sense in worrying about it now.

Anyways, I got a set of Global West connectors from CJ Pony Parts (thanks as usual guys!) However they are not very close in respect to fitment. I’m not sure if it’s the Dynacorn replacement pieces I’m using (frame rails) etc.. but they said they have never had a problem. That said, I’m returning them and will make my own when I get the car on the ground.

Epoxy Primer on

Layed down a couple coats of SPI epoxy primer to ensure the best protection for the car. This was after hours of prep to make sure it had the best surface to adhere to.

Up in the air!

August 19, 2010 Leave a comment

Finally it cooled off a bit and I went out for some late nights to blow off some stress. Got the Rotisserie built, could have spent more time on it (casters, center beam,etc..) but I’m only restoring this car and only need it on there to get the underside painted and buttoned up.
However, I should have thought through the “lifting” part of getting the ends into the receiving tubes LOL, that was interesting to say the least.
Now it’s time to finish up the bottom of the car with some final welding, cleaning grinding, epoxy/paint/sealer.

Rotisserie time

August 13, 2010 Leave a comment

In order for me to do this project the way I want to I’ve decided to build a rotisserie so i can address the bottom of the car, sheet metal wise and prime/paint,etc… Now that the car is structurally sound with new metal, I’m comforatable putting her on it. This should make spraying epoxy primer and then painting so much easier :)
